Roof Wind Damage
Merit Roofing repairs roof wind damage for homeowners and commercial property owners who need fast inspections, clear answers, and the right repair plan after strong storms.
High wind can do serious damage to a roof. Sometimes it tears shingles completely off. Sometimes it lifts the edge of a shingle and breaks the seal underneath. Sometimes it loosens flashing, bends metal roof parts, pulls at roof edges, damages gutters, or opens seams on a flat roof.
Wind damage can be tricky because the roof may still look mostly intact from the ground.
That does not mean it is okay.
Once wind lifts or loosens roofing materials, rain can get underneath. That can lead to leaks, wet insulation, damaged decking, ceiling stains, mold concerns, and bigger repairs later. A quick roof inspection after strong wind can help catch those issues before the next storm makes them worse.
Roof Wind Damage Can Start Small
Roof wind damage often starts with small openings that get worse over time.
A few lifted shingles may not seem like a big deal at first. But when the seal breaks, those shingles become more vulnerable during the next storm. Water can get under the shingle. The shingle can crease. The edge can tear. The surrounding shingles can loosen too.
On commercial roofs, wind can pull at edges, seams, flashing, membrane sections, coping metal, and rooftop equipment details. Once an edge or seam starts to fail, wind can continue pushing under the material and make the damage spread.
Common signs of wind damage include:
Missing shingles
Lifted shingles
Creased shingles
Loose ridge caps
Damaged flashing
Shingles in the yard
Bent or loose gutters
Loose roof edge metal
Leaks after storms
Water stains on ceilings
Torn flat roof membrane
Open seams on commercial roofs
Damaged fascia or soffit areas
Debris impact on the roof
Wind Damage Sign | What It May Mean |
Missing shingles | Roof deck or underlayment may be exposed |
Lifted shingles | The shingle seal may be broken |
Creased shingles | Wind may have folded and weakened the shingle |
Loose flashing | Water may enter around walls, vents, or chimneys |
Damaged ridge caps | The top roof line may be exposed |
Loose edge metal | Wind may be pulling at the roof system |
Open flat roof seams | Water may enter beneath the membrane |
Interior stains | Water may already be entering the building |
A professional inspection helps confirm the source and scope of the damage.
Why Choose Merit Roofing For Roof Wind Damage
Merit Roofing helps property owners deal with roof wind damage through careful inspections, clear communication, and practical repair guidance.
We inspect the roof system, not just the obvious damaged area. We look at shingles, flashing, ridge caps, roof edges, gutters, vents, pipe boots, flat roof seams, membranes, coatings, drains, and commercial roof details.
Then we explain what we find and recommend the right path.
That may be a small repair, emergency roof protection, insurance claim support, commercial roof repair, or full roof replacement.
Our goal is to help you protect your home or building before a small wind damage issue becomes a bigger roofing problem.

The team at Merit Roofing was great to work with. They came out to my parent's home in Northwest Houston (20 year roof), completed our inspection, showed us exactly the issues our roof had and gave us a great quote. We had spoken to other contractors and the quotes were much higher. We were debating between going through insurance or paying out of pocket and they were great about answering all of our questions and even providing financing options if we decided to go the out-of-pocket route. Very professional and top-notch service. We were very happy with our new roof. We may be working with them in the future on new siding as well. They came highly recommended by a friend in Cypress, TX who also got their roof done by them. I am so glad we reached out to Merit Roofing for our new roof, thanks again!Posted on Google![]()

I recently had my roof replaced by Merit Roofing and couldn’t be more pleased with the entire experience. From start to finish, Trey and his team were professional, communicative, and clearly committed to delivering high-quality work. Trey’s team completed the project within the exact timeframe they promised, which I really appreciated. Even more impressive was their attention to detail, not just in the workmanship, but in how they treated my property. The site was thoroughly cleaned and properly prepped, leaving everything looking great once the job was done. If you’re looking for a reliable roofing company that takes pride in both their work and customer experience, I highly recommend Merit Roofing.Posted on Google![]()

I can't say enough about Merit Roofing and Construction. We first came together in November of 2023 for a new roof. After going through that process with them and discussing other home improvement projects they can do we never looked back. They are people of their word, provide very good pricing and great craftsmanship. We have used them for a new roof, new flooring, sheetrock projects, new fireplace facade, kitchen updates including custom cabinets, and new siding. With the number of projects we have done with them, naturally there will be some hiccups along the way, but they are very receptive to correcting any issues and understanding what the customer needs. Would recommend using them to anyone!Posted on Google![]()

After Hurricane Beryl hit on July 11, 2024, we noticed water dripping into the attic. We have Windstorm Insurance (which is quite expensive). We contacted TWIA and an inspector approved replacement of our roof. Merit Roofing was one of three estimates we got for the job. they had the best price and appeared to have the expertise of how to work with insurance so that everything was properly covered. After completing the replacement of the roof including some rotten boards found under the old shingles, we were very pleased with the result. Trust them to do your job right!Posted on Google![]()

The process was a mess. Very sloppy, nails blown into pool, clean as you go non existent, what should have taken 1 day to almost three was under staffed. We had to clean the entire back yard and pool area after they left.Posted on Google![]()

The area around my ceiling fan started showing slight dampness, and at first, I assumed it was just some kind of electrical condensation issue. It didn’t seem serious enough to worry about immediately. However, when they came in for inspection, they took a much deeper look above that section and discovered a small leak that was actually traveling along a pipe support. What made it tricky was that the water wasn’t dripping straight down—it was moving indirectly, which made the source very difficult to detect earlier. Their ability to trace that hidden path really impressed me.Posted on Google![]()
